Tirana film festival is underway with a Visconti tribute and Balkan shorts

The 24th Tirana International Film Festival runs September 21–27 with features, short-film competitions and local premieres.

The 24th Tirana International Film Festival is running through September 27 with feature and short-film competitions across the Albanian capital. Its opening national premiere was Mother by North Macedonian filmmaker Teona Strugar Mitevska. The programme includes debut features, documentaries, Balkan and Albanian

shorts, student films and a Luchino Visconti retrospective. A restored 4K premiere of Xhanfise Keko’s 1973 film Mimoza Llastica is scheduled as the closing film.
