Magic moves meld cards out of its double-faced card rules
Magic: The Gathering is reorganising its rules for double-faced cards, with a small functional change for meld cards. The October 19 Mystery Booster Commander Edition bulletin moves meld into its own rule 713 and says those cards will no longer count as double-faced cards. That reverses their 2023 classification and changes how the small number of cards that explicitly interact with double-faced cards can treat them.

The October 19 Mystery Booster Commander Edition bulletin moves meld into its own rule 713 and says those cards will no longer count as double-faced cards. That reverses their 2023 classification and
changes how the small number of cards that explicitly interact with double-faced cards can treat them. The same bulletin adds rule 903.5e so a commander's rulebreaker ability can operate before the game begins. It also presents revised Oracle wording for Tolabow, Loch Rascal, making its permission for an additional
colour of instants and sorceries explicitly refer to colour identity. Most of the wider update is described as organisational, but the meld change is worth checking when resolving affected interactions. Wizards notes that the official comprehensive rules take precedence if its summary and the rules differ. Source:
