Fremantle Press is recruiting Western Australian voice actors for an audiobook pilot focused on children’s stories and accessibility in education. The independent publisher has named the first three books, with audio editions planned for the first quarter of 2027. The opening titles are Blu and the Lost Storm by
Sabrina Dudgeon-Swift, Penguin Peril by Deb Fitzpatrick, and Sunny & Shadow by Helen Milroy. Another three titles are due to be announced before the end of this year. The publisher is seeking performers who can bring emotional range and characterisation while treating younger listeners as equals. The project is
designed to support established actors as well as emerging performers. A Minderoo Foundation capacity-building grant will help pay for training, mentoring, equipment and professional work, giving the pilot a development role alongside its publishing schedule. Fremantle’s announcement links directly to a
voice-submission portal with the application details. The programme offers a more specific view of its emerging audio catalogue: three named junior-to-middle-reader books, a regional casting call, and a publication window for their recorded editions. Individual narrators have yet to be announced. Source: Official
