The Forgotten Five reunites former teen heroes in a new Image Comics series

A former teenage superhero team will have to decide whether it can still act like one after years in ordinary life. Image Comics has announced The Forgotten Five , an ongoing series by writers Alex Segura and Sara Century with artists Pat Kennedy and Dean Kotz. The publisher's issue-one listing dates its first chapter

for Wednesday 16 December, with a 32-page issue at a listed US cover price of $3.99. Heroes with a past to revisit The publisher's 22 September announcement describes five young people who escaped a shadowy organisation called the Contingency and became an outcast team. Decades later, that organisation appears to be

resurfacing. The characters have aged, dispersed and moved beyond their old world-saving role, so the immediate question is whether they can rebuild the relationships needed to face it. Century says the creative team is using a non-linear structure to explore how reluctant heroism affected those lives over time. That

points to a story about consequences and reunion alongside the expected powers and fights. It is a promising premise, but the announcement and advance praise are promotional material; Mythscribe has not reviewed the finished issue. Image lists the December 16 issue for comic shops and says digital editions will be offered across multiple platforms.
