Encounters opens in Bristol with shorts, awards and a Mission screening

The September 23–27 festival begins with short-film showcases and a screening of Paul Wright’s Mission.

Encounters Film Festival opens in Bristol on September 23 and runs through September 27. The first day includes a Brief Encounters shorts programme, the DepicT! showcase and awards for films of 90 seconds or less, and a South West showcase of seven new regional films. At 20:00, Paul Wright’s Mission screens with a Q&A

involving the director and cast. The film follows Dylan, played by George MacKay, as he abandons his solitary life for a demanding journey of self-discovery; Rosy McEwen plays his estranged sister Claire. The festival’s live schedule lists venues and ticket links. Short-film audiences can use it to choose between
