Ed Park’s new King in Yellow riff arrives as a two-sided horror book

The September 29 Hell’s Hundred hardcover pairs Park’s contemporary cosmic-horror story with Robert W. Chambers’s 1895 original in a flip volume illustrated by Jeff Wong.

Pulitzer finalist Ed Park reworks Robert W. Chambers’s The King in Yellow story in a new illustrated flip volume due September 29. The publisher listing says the Hell’s Hundred hardcover pairs Park’s contemporary cosmic-horror story, also titled “The Repairer of Reputations,” with Chambers’s 1895 story on the reverse

side. Park’s story follows a children’s entertainer whose career collapses after a stranger with the same name commits a crime; she hires a specialist to try to repair the damage. Jeff Wong designed and illustrated the book, which connects Chambers’s classic tale of paranoia and obsession to contemporary misinformation
