DREGS opens Kickstarter for quarterly indie science-fiction comics
Uncivilized Books' campaign is funding a planned 100-page quarterly of international science-fiction and fantasy comics, interviews and process features.
Uncivilized Books' Kickstarter for DREGS! is live. The independent publisher is using the campaign to launch a planned quarterly science-fiction and fantasy comics magazine. Its official announcement set September 25 as the presale launch and says the campaign will run for one month; the live campaign carries the
current funding and pledge details. The publisher plans roughly 100 pages per issue, mixing short comics and continuing stories from international creators. It names MatÃas Bergara, Michael DeForge, Richie Pope, Suzajana and Ronald Wimberly among contributors across the first two issues. Interviews, process material
and articles are also part of the format; Bergara is the first issue's guest artist and interview subject. The roster spans issues one and two , so it is not a promise that every named creator appears in the debut. Uncivilized says campaign funding will help print the magazine, pay artists and bring it to comic shops.
