Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct reveals Ocarina of Time remake and 2027 film date
Nintendo’s 40th-anniversary showcase paired first gameplay of Ocarina of Time on Switch 2 with an October 29 anniversary console, global concerts and an April 30, 2027 film date.
Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct turned today’s showcase into a release roadmap for Hyrule’s next year. The presentation’s headline reveal was first gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, where the 1998 adventure has been rebuilt with overhauled visuals, fully voiced
cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic music and reworked camera and movement controls. The remake launches on November 5. The first gameplay footage is the trailer-sized look fans needed, but Nintendo also attached practical dates to the celebration. A Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 system arrives
October 29 with matching Pro Controller options and a carrying case with screen protector. Two ocarinas are planned for later this year: one playable instrument and one HORI electric version that can play notes or complete songs. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are scheduled for 2027, while the Mineru’s Construct
amiibo reaches Tears of the Kingdom players on September 17. The Switch 2 release will connect to the ZELDA NOTES service in the Nintendo Switch App. Nintendo lists a chronological Today’s Record, hint-image quests, a virtual ocarina and a daily quiz drawing from more than 2,000 questions. Those features make the
remake’s companion layer about tracking a personal adventure as much as checking a guide. The anniversary is moving beyond the console. A global concert series begins in Tokyo next January, reaches Chicago in February, London in April and Melbourne in May. Nintendo Museum in Kyoto will add a limited anniversary ticket
design from September 9 and new photo opportunities from November 5. Nintendo Today! users can also begin collecting daily Zelda digital cards tomorrow. Nintendo confirmed that the live-action film is officially titled The Legend of Zelda and will open worldwide on April 30, 2027. Partner products include a 1,750-piece
LEGO Ocarina of Time Link and Epona display set and a 27-inch Hasbro Electronic Master Sword, both planned for spring 2027.
