Warhammer Tone Pro paint trials begin September 26; Japan follows October 3

Games Workshop opens Tone Pro in-store trials on September 26, with Japan's trial date one week later.

Miniature painters can start trying Warhammer Tone Pro at Warhammer stores and participating independent hobby shops from September 26 , according to Games Workshop's preview. The Japanese-language notice gives an important local exception: stores in Japan begin trials on October 3 . Check with a nearby shop for

participation and stock before travelling. Tone Pro groups 150 paints into 30 colour families, each with five numbered tones from dark to light. The structure is meant to help painters choose a base, shadow and highlight within one family. Games Workshop also describes blending and shade mediums and four new drybrush

sizes. These are the maker's performance claims; a brief shop demonstration is the useful opportunity to judge handling and coverage for yourself. Independent hobby publication inHobby points out that the numbered sequence could make tonal relationships easier to see, especially for beginners, while mixing and colour

temperature still matter. It also notes that a final retail price had not been confirmed in its September 23 report.
