Tokyo Game Show 2026 opens as its planned final onsite day is cancelled

The public show opened September 19 after two business days; CESA cancelled September 21 onsite attendance and kept selected official programming online.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 opened to the public on Saturday, September 19, following business days on September 17–18. On September 19, CESA confirmed that the show would continue as planned on September 20, but cancelled all in-person activity at Makuhari Messe on Monday, September 21, citing Typhoon No. 25, expected wind

and rain, transport risks and attendee safety. The planned final public day was therefore cancelled, with ticket refunds arranged. The physical event ran September 17–20, with public attendance on September 19–20. CESA’s September 20 follow-up said the official programmes scheduled for September 21 would still stream

online and shared selected exhibitor stream and archive information. This was online programming and exhibitor material, not a virtual replacement for the closed venue or a claim that every exhibitor moved online.
