The festival’s official X account, YouTube channel and inquiry form are scheduled to close on September 30. Its website will remain accessible in

a different form, becoming an archive of earlier editions and activities on the same date. TAAF began as an independent festival in 2014, following the Tokyo Anime Award’s earlier association with the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Its programme brought together international competition, screenings and events for

audiences and animation professionals. The farewell notice does not announce a replacement festival or a 2027 edition.
