Aethon moved Child of Shadows from October 6 to November 10 after a distributor request for more copies.

Aethon Books explained the change on 4 September: its distributor asked for a larger print run after major retailers requested more copies, moving the previously planned 6 October on-sale date. The publisher also plans optional replacement dust jackets featuring commissioned artists, with sales intended around the hardcover launch week.
