Faulkner for All opens five days of literary conversation in New Orleans

The Faulkner Society's September 24–28 festival features Sarah Broom, Gerald Howard and a theme of American literature.

Faulkner for All begins in New Orleans on September 24 and continues through September 28. The Faulkner Society has chosen “The Triumph of American Literature” as this year's public-programme theme, bringing writers and publishing figures together for talks and craft conversations. The writers in focus Gerald Howard is

set to give the keynote and appear twice more. His new nonfiction book The Insider examines editor Malcolm Cowley's role in bringing William Faulkner's work back into circulation. Sarah Broom, whose memoir The Yellow House won a National Book Award, is also scheduled for three events, including advice for adult writers

and an evening conversation with novelist Maurice Carlos Ruffin. The society's festival page also names Nicholas Lemann and T. R. Johnson among the participants. For a reader or emerging writer, the programme connects literary history with the work of writing and publishing now. The organiser asks writers seeking
