Netflix brings A Different World back to Hillman with a new generation

The 10-episode sequel follows Dwayne and Whitley's daughter at Hillman, with legacy cast members returning alongside new students.

Netflix's A Different World sequel began streaming September 24, returning viewers to Hillman College through the next generation of students. The launch feature describes a 10-episode season centred on Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Dwayne and Whitley. Maleah Joi Moon leads the new student ensemble as

Deborah, joined by Alijah Kai, Chibuikem Uche, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall and Kennedi Reece. Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer return as familiar Hillman faces. Felicia Pride is the sequel's showrunner and executive producer. Original-series director Debbie Allen returns as an

executive producer and directs the premiere. The sequel's campus story is set against the rituals and contradictions of a historically Black college, continuing the original sitcom's Hillman setting while introducing new students and conflicts. Netflix lists the season as 10 half-hour episodes. The service's release
